This is going to be a long explanation, but please bear with me.
So after a long time I finally pulled the trigger and ordered a MacMini M1 512GB 16 GB. Together with the LG 32UN880-B (which is a popular UHD IPS monitor with a built-in USB-Hub). I plan to connect the Mini to the monitor through USB-C, which gives me another USB-C for an external SSD and another one for my slower WD 5TB drive for backup.
I also have dreams about grading up my grading monitor. Until yesterday, there were basically two options:
1. Buy an LG 48 CX OLED TV (~1200 €), connect it via HDMI and use it in FCP for AV OUT and in Resolve for clean feed (same thing as AV OUT). Actually I'd hate this cheap option just for the size of that screen, much too big for my desk right now.
2. Buy an LG Ultrafine 32EP950-B (~3200 €). No doubt this is the best grading monitor for four figures and lets Apples XDR display shiver in it's boots. But it is 3200 € and it still is 32".
Yesterday I stumbled upon a youtube video where someone uses the iPad Pro as the sole display for the Mini. Luna Display. It's a dongle in the USB-C port that tells MacOS that a monitor is connected. Works wireless in a stable WiFi-environment. Also works over the second USB-C-port.
I also *can* make my iMac 5k a primary oder secondary display with that dongle.
But be it as it may, I have a new dream. Just curious if anybody here has tried this or knews whether it works or not, and why:
What if I made the big LG the main monitor and chose a glorious iPad Pro 12,9" Mini LED as AV-OUT? Now I know, it doesn't have 2160 x 3840, just 2048 x 2732. Does AV OUT actually scale? Or does it crop?
I could live with just a fitted viewer in FCP instead.
Any thoughts on that?

Update: just saw that the CX OLED is already the "old" model, and that the new - 2021 - TV is called C1 and is only slightly better (particularly concerning gaming). Anyway, with just 730 € the beautiful CX is only slightly more expensive than the Ergo monitor. So I forgo the Luna solution with the iPad.
