I'm hoping someone can help. Final Cut think that my project is 360 video and I can't figure out how to fix it. Even when exporting it has equirectangular properties that I can't change. My clips are all ok in terms of metadata but the project settings are unchangeable. Any ideas on what to do? I have added some screenshots.
If resetting prefs doesn't work, you could try creating a new project, and specifically setting the project's frame size and frame rate specs you want (don't leave it in Automatic), then copy the timeline from the 360 project and paste into the new project.
Thanks guys, I have tried both of these suggestions and still no luck. I thought the copy and paste idea would work but when I do it the video doesn't show, it's just black whenever I press play. It's also always rendering. Never stops. So frustrating!
I just updated from Mojave to Big Sur and now experiencing this issue out of nowhere. I have my timeline set to 3840x1920 and everything is normal but when I duplicate or create new project it makes it 360 no matter what I do. I'm still running fcpx 10.4.9.
I can change it, or at least the UI lets me change it back to Custom and then set the resolution manually, but if I set it to 3940x1920 and click okay, then clicking on Modify on the project shows it never changed
Generally the advice is to not update if you're in the middle of projects, which I am consistently (wedding filmmaker) as the libraries can become corrupt during the update process. This has happened to me before so I have to choose careful windows when it's safe to update.
That's correct. But you have updated your OS to Big Sur recently, which is much more risky to do when you are in the middle of a project as FCP is very tightly integrated with MacOS. And FCP 10.4.9 dates from August 2020 (-:
If you update the OS to the latest, you also should update FCP at the same time.
At the time I resolved it by selecting the library, then File -> Delete Generated Library Files and checked everything, but the problem came back and I can no longer get it fixed using that approach 🤷♂️
I don't think it has to do with the media, I can create a new library, then a new project with 3840x920 resolution and it still converts it to 360.
It appears that as long as I set that resolution it always converts my projects to 360, which is quite frustrating.
It works fine as long as the resolution is not exactly 3840x1920, so I've temporarily set the resolution of my project to 3840x1921 while I edit, not sure if YouTube will let me upload this resolution and a single pixel won't cause any issues.
