FCPX Leaving SOME Files in Place was created by Bruce France Media
Greetings. I've recently been having a problem where FCPX has been leaving SOME of my files in place (on the XQD card) and only importing SOME of my files to my external hard drive. When I import my footage I highlight all of the files on the card that I want imported, but the next time I open the library I'm finding some files missing (unlinked). I've opened the library within my Finder window only to discover that the original media isn't there. Upon re-inserting the XQD card (thank goodness I haven't formatted a card and lost any footage completely...yet) my FCPX library recognizes it as a file that was left in place. What is accounting for this?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

You have to be careful that the import process completes. It might appear very fast, but it might not be finished, especially y if you are transcoding and analyzing. These functions will stop while you use the application, which will give playback full priority and not background processes.

You can check on the import progression by using Command 9 to open a window, I forget what it is called, that will show you the status of each file. Click the arrows on the right to see details of the import.

I have had this happen a few times and I believe that I just didn't let the import process finish. Even though the bar fills up/circle completes doesn't mean it's 100% complete. It still does some nonsense and if the card is removed or something weird happens it can get interrupted. This issue can be exacerbated if you have a bad card reader or if the card and/or reader is just having a bad day (it happens). Check your clips in the Inspector to make sure they are in the Library/Event.
