Using a Motion 5.5.1 created template in fcpx and renders slow when in timeline was created by Sqeegiex
I'm rendering my video for export on fcpx 10.5.2 and I created a template in Motion 5.5.1. When I drop in the generator to use over the main timeline with the images placed in the drop zone it just dogs the computer. If I disable the generator everything else seems to render fine and fairly quick. I'm not understanding where I may have went wrong. It was fine before the update to 5.5.1. Any idea why this might be happening.

I would have to see the Generator. Zip it up and share it?

I'm sorry, I didn't see a reply on this from so long ago. Here you go.

Performs well for me. You have one control for each DZ I don't understand. I just makes the whole template visible or invisible. I'd get rid of whatever that published parameter is. But performs good for me. It also depends on what size and codec the clips are you're dropping into the DZs and how well your Mac can handle that. I'm using 4K from an iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Sometimes the posters I receive are in Jpg and I use the scaling and panning to get them to fit for the poster. I also stretch this generator to 20 mins to and hour and a half. Which probably is the reason why it dogs the machine. As well I'm 1. new to motion so I'm trying to hammer it out a little at a time. 2. the images received aren't always vertical. I have to scale them in and pan them to get them to a desired "Poster" size.

I'm also doing this on a mbp retina early 2013 i7 quad core with 16GB of ram and it is still a little slow on the rendering.

Could be the JPEG files. Make sure they are no larger than the video screen side. For example, if you're working with 1080 video, make sure the JPEG images are no more than 2000 pixels tall. And make sure in the graphics app you use to resize them, the DPI is set to 72. If they are huge files, that could bog down Final Cut.

The DPI is set to 72 in the template?

No, resize them in something like Pixelmator or Preview or (heaven forbid) Photoshop before importing into FCP.
If you open one of those images in Preview, let's say, outside of FCP, what is the Frame Size and what is the DPI specified to be?
