Dividing one large file in multiple smaller ones?

I'm using version 10.2.1.  Is there a way to divide one insanely large file (library?) into multiple reasonably sized ones?  I'm new to FCP, and assumed "project" referred to, well, a new project... as opposed to a project within another project (library?).  So instead of having 10 separate files for 10 different vids, I have one ridiculously large file (53GB!!) with multiple unrelated videos inside.  (I guess "library" is the FCP version of what any other program refers to as a project?)  Anyway... the lack of a "save as" or "save" feature in this program drives me crazy, as it leads to scenarios like this.  Amazing program in almost every other regard, but the design logic is so bizarre in many ways.  Any help appreciated.

The library need not be large -- it is putting media inside the library and putting cache inside the library that makes it large. Where you put those items is under your control. Media can also be imported using "leave files in place" which only creates pointers inside the library to the existing media files.

You should also upgrade to a newer version, as there have been many performance and feature upgrades since 10.2.1 was released in 2015. The upgrade is free for any licensed user.
