4K media in 1080 project to 4K Project?

Hi all.

I set up a Project as 1080 30p . I have all 4K media that I added to that Project. Spacial conform to Fit, but may change that for a few clips to None to do some Transform(ing).

If I decide at another time to create a duplicate Project and change the new Project to a 4K 30p will this work? I'm pretty sure I would lose all my Transforms and the 4K video would just fill the frame.

If I'm not mistaken, I think I can do this if the frame rate (30p) doesn't change. Is this right.

Sorry for the basic ?

Jonathan

So, copy it all, make a 4K project, paste, or simply duplicate the 1080 project and change its properties to 4K, and you'll get the same results (just tried this).

Your zooms with the 4K will get messed up.  They'll keep the same size and all, meaning now that you have them shrunk in a 1080 timeline, they'll be that same size in the 4K, leaving black space around them.  You'll have to redo all the sizing again in your 4K timeline.

I just did that as you were writing this. Looks like I can go to 4K if I wanted to at some other time. $K did cause a few drop frame warnings but that's probably because I did not create any proxy.

You might have a problem with low resolution Compound Clips - If those are made in a 1080 project, you'll manually need to change the resolution to each one of them to 3840 pixels wide by 2160 pixels tall in your (4K) 3840 project

I'm assuming you mean UHD not 4K
