Avid MC to FCP was created by Bluebicycle
I pursue this goal tirelessly for simple cuts, because it would help me get FCP adopted on the margins of workflows, dominated by Avid.
AAF to FCPxml is handled (badly) by Resolve. One problem is of detached audio in FCP. This isn't just down to the Opatom nature of Avid mediaFiles, it's the same with OP1a. You can manually link in the Timeline in Resolve but that is a very tedious and time consuming business. the next issue is Roles, Resolve loses both the original channel information and the track it came from.
So this is getting very SIMPLE rough cuts only and sync pulls into FCP from Media Composer, hopefully using common media. Apple have reintroduced the Avid codecs at OS level, under AV Foundation, so this helps.
I discovered that the List Tool in Avid will produce an xml. Is there anyone who can confirm whether an fcpxml could be derived from it, see attached file? This could remove AAF from the equation. Who knows there may also be more information in the file than the standard AAF export contains. This is a One Show insert I cut for the BBC on Avid that could perhaps have been done on FCP, had I been able to get a rough cut in there.
Once these connections are established in either direction, even in a very limited way, possibilities for editors to choose FCP over Avid increase.

I would have tried to open that XML in resolve and then make a FCPXML out of it.

If only it was that simple. It doesn't import into Resolve. I don't even know what form it's in, as I know next to nothing about xml. I can take an AAF from Avid into Resolve, and export and FCPxml, which gives me detached audio and channel and Role problems. I'm just looking for someone who can read xml and determine what is in there, and if it's meaningful enough to derive an xml directly from it. Avid AAF is binary and opaque. I just wondered what was in the is file that the List Tool produces. It appears to have clip and timecode information in there. At least with Text you can see what it is.

you can open that xml in a text editor, usually the first couple of lines will tell you what kind of xml it is.

Has the look of a film conforming tool, but if there is basic information in there that could conform to a Sequence with simple cuts that would be amazing
