crackle in audio

Hi, my audio in FCPX has bad crackle sounds. I used a clip-on mic, guessing it was too close to my mouth. Either way, lots of crackling. The videos i've looked at online haven't really helped or covered the exact noise issue i'm having. Can you recommend anything or any plugins that might help? Or is that type of crackling difficult to remove? Thank you! 

I'd have to hear it, but I'm going to guess it's one of two things. There's a glitch (or used to be) with macOS in which external audio monitors could get crackles and static that wasn't really in the original recording. I had that once, but that was a couple of years ago. With the next OS update it went away.

The other is you recorded audio too hot (too loud) and it's baked-in and there is very little to nothing you can do about it. Can you post a sample we can listen to?
