What is the most usable Motion Blur effect? was created by psznt
Hi Everyone,
What is the most usable Motion Blur effect that is the easiest to work with?
I have a pretty much maxed out MacBook Pro 16" and still, when I apply motion blur effect it kills my computer. It basically becomes unusable. Even if I turn background render off, it is super slow, plus if I want to see the effect, I would need to render it though. When I do, a 10 second clip takes like 10-20 minutes at least!
I work with A7SIII's XAVC HS H.265 10bit 422 files, but I create proxies, I optimize FCPX for performance and only Proxies. I do apply other effects, like stabilization (mainly Pixel Film Studios or the built in), Transitions (Pixel Film Studios mainly), some rotation and zoom keyframes or effects made by Ryan Nangle. At the very end of the editing workflow I also color correct and color grade (means using the built in color tool, applying LUTs and sometimes using Color Finale)
I just don't understand how can a pretty strong computer get unusable when motion blur effects and transitions are applied... And I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong or there is an easier effect that doesn't make my computer unusable...
I know, I could use the motion blur at the very end of the editing process, but then still I would need to have it rendered and check if the result looks like what I imagined.
Any help and suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
- p

I can recommend RE:Vision Effects ReelSmart Motion Blur. From my personal experience it is the best motion blur-plugin out there since it renders very realistic looking motion blur very fast, even on slower machines.
