Help can anyone suggest the right 4TB SSD Thunderbolt 3 External Hard drive for FCP that would go with the new M1 Mac Mini? I am having difficulty find one.
Many thanks

HI Giovanni,
I have been researching SSD drives for external use and it is really frustrating. The specs on many are misleading. I have sent all SSD external drives back because they cannot sustain write speeds. I suspect the have a small high performance buffer that works for about 1 gig of write and after that the speeed drops to about 40%. This is killer for video. I recommend using the BlackMagic Disk Speed Test App because it will really push the drive and tell you what it can really handle. This is how I have uncovered the issue of unsustained write speeds. My advice is make sure you can return the drive if the drive fails to perform.
