Shopping for newer MacBook Pro: questions... was created by Wondering
Hi gang--
Looking for advice...
I've been editing mostly broadcast promos and also unrelated educational streaming videos using fcpx and After Effects on my ancient 2013 MacBook Pro. I don't need the most maxed out Mac but it should be no slouch either.
1. Is it a better bang for the buck to get an Apple-certified refurbished laptop or wait for a Cyber Monday sale on a new one? Apple doesn't seem to discount that much. (Refurbished: www.apple.com/shop/refurbished/mac?afid=...mac--slid---product- )
2. Is 16GB of 2666MHz DDR4 onboard memory and a AMD Radeon Pro 5500M with 4GB of GDDR6 memory good enough?
Thanks.

1, Get whatever gives you the most bang for your buck. Refurbs are not that cheap because they've been fully repaired, tested, and have a warranty.
2, Should be fine. I'd also recommend learning Motion. Get most of your work done faster, easier.
