Editing audio with video into the timeline, channel 2 is distorted.

Hi, I have a very basic question. We record from the camera in mono, with channel 1 lower and 2 hotter. Sometimes channel 2 is too hot. I don’t want to edit that channel with the video into the timeline. From what I can tell the only way to deal with it is to drop the clip in the timeline, then use the audio inspector to change to Dual Mono and deselect the channel 2. Is that the best way to handle it or have I missed something super simple? Thanks for the help!

In my opinion you are doing it the correct way and probably the best way. That's exactly how I use audio when a mono channel is recorded with a safety level mono track.
