I am working on a project that has 163 small image files in pdf format. I imported and transcoded to prores 422 and they all imported with a 1 second duration. The duration cannot be changed when I place these in the timeline, and I suspect that is because they imported with 1 sec lengths. I can use the retime editor, select hold, and then change the duration, but can't seem to apply that to all the clips at once. Is there some issue with pdf images that prevented these from importing at the typical 10 second duration per clip?
I created my project after I imported the clips. I manually set it for 720x480 with a timebase of 23.98fps as these low res stills will be put to DVD at the end.
I just completed a 1080p project with 385 4K stills in jpeg format and had no major issues, so I was wondering if pdf images have a conflict with fcpx.

Have you change the duration of still picture in your preference og FCPX, I think yes.... but here you have the lsit of still picture that fcpx can work :
PSD, BMP, GIF, RAW, JPEG, PNG, TGA et TIFF
So with psf format it's possible have some problems.... it's better for you to transform pdf to PNG (the best) with photohsop or lightroom.
I hope that help you....

Hi..
Thanks for the info. The FCPX preference setting only affects the duration of a still when placed in the timeline, it has no affect on how the image imports. But I do see that pdf is not a documented supported image, so I guess I will batch convert these images to PNG as you suggest. Thanks.
