FCPX keeps crashing when I add a title was created by moonshark
Hi, I have been working on a video the last few days and this afternoon the programme just quit and I have been unable to open it and work on it since. I have also tried opening previous projects to test those and those break too.
The programme does not crash when you load it up, it is as soon as you open a project which has a title and then within a few seconds it crashes. It comes up with the red box and symbol with a message like "Looking for Alex4D Letterbox' and then it crashes, the same with the 'Typewriter' title too.
I have tried creating a brand new library and just using one 4K video and then adding in the 'typewriter' title above it. It then crashes.
I have tried:
- Deleting my preferences(CMD, Alt and Double Click)
- Restarting my machine
- Copying the video clips to another library
- Exporting the XML and importing into a new one
- Opening the XML and deleting the titles/effects I know I no longer have.
- On my HDD and also 2 different external hard drives
- 1 video clip and adding a title. It either just closes or shows the beach ball.
- Used digital rebellion and ran various things.
Attached is the report and also my mac specs.

Thread 27 crashed in com.apple.motion.TextFramework while doing TXFontManager::getFontFace, apparently some kind of recursive call.
It obviously should not crash, especially just from using the built-in FCPX "Typewriter" title. As you stated it may be some combination of older plugins or effects. I suggest you use this info from Larry Jordan to inspect all your 3rd-party plugins, titles and effects and remove any old ones and those no longer being used: larryjordan.com/articles/how-to-remove-p...rom-final-cut-pro-x/
Your crash log also indicates use of FxFactory. Please run that and update the FxFactory app itself and any plugins in use from them. If you have any CoreMelt plugins, update those using this installer page: coremelt.com/pages/downloads
