I'm trying to find a way to copy a day's worth of edits to a second drive (which has the event from the previous event already on it) without having to copy media as well. If I go the compound clips/smart collection route, I can't do that. If I have to copy the media back and forth at the end of each day's edit, then it isn't worth my while. I would have to put aside an extra 20-30 minutes per day to do this. I think I might just wait until the next update and see what Apple has addressed. Until then, I'll stick with fcp7 for collaborative projects.

So I think the way around this is to just create a project for my newly edited compound clips and share those with the external drive. Then I delete the project I just created on the original drive and await the new project from the external drive editor. Unfortunately, I can't take edited projects and put them in the browser as compound clips, so we would have to build up a bunch of projects along the way. Then I would rely on Event Manager X to make sure I only open the projects I need. Of course, adding keywords or favorites gets tricky so I'd have to make sure we had all those in order before we even start the edit. Wow. This is messy. I'm going to go back over some of these tutorials to make sure I haven't missed something screamingly obvious.

Once the same Event is on both systems, same name and content, you only have to copy over the Project. Drop your Compound clips into a Project(s).

When you move the Project to a new system, just relink to the Event on the new sytem.
