Question about customizing the browser

Question about customizing the browser was created by Gpc
I hope I properly explain my two questions. When I use the list view of all the clips, how do I customize it so that only clips I drag on to the timeline have the right-pointing triangle appear? I find that inconsistent. Sometimes it works as I'd like, sometimes every clip has the triangle regardless of use.
Also, is there a way to permanently change the start, end, duration, etc to just show what I need and in the order I want?
Thank you --- Gary

Make a Smart Collection tthat shows only Used Media, and perhaps one showing only Unused Media.

The triangle shows up anytime you add a keyword, select a range, mark as favorite, etc. to a clip. A smart collection is the way to go.

Technically it is called a "Disclosure Arrow" or triangle. Click it, it twirls to point downward, and reveals more information.

I'd like to thank everyone who replied - but - my fault - I didn't describe the question properly so the answers aren't applicable. Say I'm working on a BIRDS compilation video and I import 17 clips of various birds. The way FCP used to behave is only after a drag a specific would the disclosure arrow even appear; there would be no arrows for the remainders. It was helpful to know which clips I might still choose. Now they are all "arrowed" where the I use them or not. Is this a better explanation? Again, thank you all.

When you viewed the clips after import did you set any favorites or rejected clips? If you did you will get the disclosure arrow.
Have you clicked on the arrow to open up the drop down list to see what is there?

The thing of it is - the way it used to be up until the latest update, and the way I'd like it to be again if possible if for there to be NO arrows until I choose a clip and drag it to the timeline. See, I don't know if I want it or not until a watch it in the timeline. Now I get arrows with arrows immediately upon import.

Sounds like you have make keywords from folder names or tags selected in import options.

I agree with Tom. If you are tagging your clips and folders in the Finder and have the Keywords boxes checked when importing the tags will come along with the clips and you will get the disclosure arrow. Click on it to see the tags.
I imagine this is how you want them to come in.
1. Clip imported with no Finder tags. This is what you want.
2. Clip imported with Finder tags and Keywords boxes checked. This is probably what you are getting.
3. Clip imported with Finder tags and Keywords boxes NOT checked. This is another way to get what you want.

YES! That solved it. MANY thanks. Now anyone want to try this one:
Also, is there a way to permanently change the start, end, duration, etc to just show what I need and in the order I want?
Thank you --- Gary

Right-click a column heading, and turn on/off what you want.
Click and drag column headings to reorder them.

I was hoping there was some way to make my preferred configuration permanent. I have to reconfigure every time I close the program..
