trying to achieve a certain effect from a music video

hi everyone!

i'm new to the forum, thank you for taking the time to read my dilemma.

i am trying to create an effect of words creating a shadow on final cut pro, possibly with a plugin, and i wondering if anyone is able to help me out by telling me how i might go about this.

for reference, i am trying to create the effect in this music video, starting at 0:17 and scattered throughout:



if anyone has any ideas, or if you think this is better suited for something pre-production, please let me know. i would love to be able to do this with a plugin or something of the like if possible.

This is not a post-production effect, it was actually shot on camera like that. A projector thows an image onto a wall, singer stands in front of it. Very simple.

But, you could try this in post. I did a tutorial about using lights in Motion and making fake gobos for effects. You could use those same techniques to try to replicate this, but it won't be as detailed as actually shooting it on camera.
