Diagonal lines in my project - what to do?!

Suddenly the last portion of my project was marked with diagonal lines. If I export the project, the movie file ends, where the lines begin in the project. I don't know what has happened. Can anyone help me? Its a pretty important project.

I've attached a screenshot.

Thanks in advance!

Drag the dark grey area to the end of your project and you should be good to go.

It means that Compound Clip is inside of another Timeline, either a Project or other Compound Clip usually. In your case, "Interview med rektor". The dark area is outside of the Compound's current duration in the parent Timeline. If you add assets that reach into that dark area, you can go back to the parent Timeline (Cmd+Right Bracket) and drag the tail of that Compound out. It will expand only as far as it's contents allow.

Just out of curiosity, and re-reading the OP, could this be used to export a section of the timeline only? Sounds like that is what it was doing. Perhaps make a dummy compound clip that resides inside another to force this to happen.

Nope, I just tested is. A compound clip in a project I'm working on, open it into it's own Timeline, Export, the whole Parent project exports. Stupid, I know. Filling out the feedback page again.

Thank you so much, guys! You saved my day. For some strange reason FCPX treated the whole project as a compound clip. And - like you said - if I dragged the end of the compound clip towards the right, it expanded and included the area with the diagonal lines.

Thank you!

It's not as convenient as being able to do it straight from FCPX, but to export a section of a time line you can send a project to compressor via the share menu in the project library. In and out points can of course be set in there.

The way I have been exporting parts of a timeline is by duplicating the project and referenced events, going into the new (fcp1) project and deleting everything I don't want and exporting the remainder. This seems to work pretty good. Then I just delete that project and go back to my original.
