How to Find a specifc plug applied to the clip previously? was created by webwiz
How do I locate what exactly effect plugin was used, after coming back later to an older project? For example, I used the Glow effect from one of the plugins, when I select the clip, it says "Glow" but... which one and what company? I want to choose another variation from that plugin. Even if I do search "Glow" there are a dozen Glows from different companies. Now I need to search one by one from effects display presented by different companies. Finding the effect in FCP7 was very easy, right-click, and show in the effect browser, it would find it right away. Thanks.

When you search for Glow, select the first category, then arrow down through the catagories until you find it. Yeah, I love it when a developer puts their name in the temnplate so I know where it came from.

Sometimes it takes a long time.

There was a 3rd party utility X-FX Handler which might have helped but it hasn't been updated to run on Mojave or later:

3 Minutes to run through them? Maybe... but when you have tons of plugins as I do, it gets annoying to search each time. Maybe I am used to easily find in FCP 7, whereas all I had to do is right-click and find, and it would point me the family of plugins in the effect browser. I suggested the Apple development team include this feature, but apparently there were not enough suggestions.
Thanks.
Thanks.

X-FX Handler doesn't support Mojave+ OS.
It required a XML.
A quick'n dirty replacement: X-Library Check.
You can use a library (fcpbundle) file to check for external Motion Templates.
www.spherico.com/filmtools/start.html -> X-Library Check
