Audio syncing with reference audio was created by Stormrider
Hi everyone,
I need some help with syncing issues with fcpx as I have been tasked to work on audio for a short film.
This is the background.
I have been sent a reference video file with reference audio. I have also been sent multiple
TASCAM recoreded files of various clips of dialogue. Both ref and audio are 48KHZ sample rate.
The editor works with divinci resolve on a PC and I am on an Imac using FCPX Catalina version.
In the browser I select all the clips and right click and select synchronise. I use automatic feature with the sync audio boxed ticked. There is no clapper board, markers or timecode to try.
This then gets placed in a synced clip.
I bring it into the timeline select break apart clip items and most of the clips are over laping and not synced with the reference video with audio. i.e a mess
What am I doing wrong? or am I?
The audio clips are in .WAV and the reference audio and video is in .MOV
Also FCPX is putting a few audio clips at the end of the reference video under a self generated gap clip!!!
My suspicion is that I am being sent the files incorrectly. This project is too big to manually sync every clip to the reference audio and video above.
Without this I can't even start to organise the roles in various lanes and start the audio work.
can anyone help.
Many thanks

You want to make a Multicam clip using audio as sync. Give each clip a Camera Name and an Angle Name first. And verify they're all 48kHz and they are have clear audio.

If you later find additional angles or audio for a given shoot, this can easily be added to an existing MC clip. If one clip doesn't sync properly this can be re-synced within the MC clip. support.apple.com/guide/final-cut-pro/sy...b1a/10.4.7/mac/10.14
If the time-of-day clock on each camera and recorder was not set correctly, those clips can be batch-updated with Modify>Adjust Content Created Date & Time. This assures they sort chronologically adjacent, making it easier to find all clips for a MC interview.
Mark the sync'd multicam clips with rejected and favorite ranges. Reject in entirety the parent clips comprising the multicams, then run the Browser filter in "hide rejected". This prevents accidental use of the non-synced parent clips in the timeline.
