Is there a way to add an affect to freeze frame that make the frame look like its take hand held. So the frame has some slight motion to it.

yes, there is an fx, "Cellular", because it is supposed to be filmed with a phone
oups it seems that "Cellular" isn't the name of this fx since years but "Handheld" (much better)

In the Effects browser, in the Stylized collection, FCPX comes with a stock "Handheld" effect.

So when i add the filter to freeze frame, and go to first frame of freeze frame and drop the effect to 0, play the transition, the video moves slightly and then stops. Is there a way to stop it from moving at all? it would seem if you have settings at zero no effect would be applied? I want to use keyframes to let the effect come in less abruptly. thanks
so if figured out the remedy, but not sure if its the easiest fix? I set a keyframe at first frame and moved video until movement of video motion stopped and basically reversed the movement using the x and y positions. it seemed to work fine.

OK, I played around with it, and it is buggy. Coremelt's Camera Shake was much better, but not sure if they even make that one any longer. Try this one, plus they usually offer discounts.
