This is a really easy one I'm sure, but can someone please tell me how to stop the timeline window toggling to show the event view please? I'm running with both windows open to eliminate this issue, but it keeps showing my the clip in both event and timeline window, when I look into the rushes. Thanks

Try resetting your preferences. I can't see why that would happen and can't reproduce it.

Relaunch the application holding Opt-Cmd. A dialog will come up to verify resetting the preferences.

I think he had the Event Viewer open. Could have just closed that.

I did have the event viewer open as that was the way I like it set up. It was loading the clip into both the event and timeline windows which was frustrating. Also I now have the scenario when every time I what to play the timeline it goes to the final frame. Doesn't matter how many effects I take off, or where I start it always goes to the end. I've restarted FCP twice and it's still doing it?? Any ideas? Thanks

For troubleshooting purposes, turn off the Event Viewer. CTRL+CMD+3 toggles it on/off.

Click on the timeline and do SHIFT+Z to fit it to the window. Then do CMD+A to select all clips in the timeline. State what the yellow numbers show above the timeline. This lets us verify the actual timeline length.

There are a few cases where an orphaned frame can happen in the Event Browser and the skimmer appears to jump to the end of the clip (in the Event Browser). I haven't seen that in the timeline but we should double-check the timeline actual length.

Hi I tried what you suggested and it didn't help. Once again, in the middle of an edit, the jumping to the last frame starts happening. It doesn't matter whether I'm in the browser, the event window or the timeline, every time I press play it goes to the relevant last frame in either window or timeline. Surely you don't have to keep trashing preferences??? I remember doing it in FCP6/7 but never this much?

CUT/PASTE:

I've had this issue for YEARS and no one has a clue what causes it.

Simple to fix, though. Be aware I have to do this every morning I sit down to work, so it's not a full 100% fix.
1, Launch Activity Monitor.
2, Search for coreaudiod.
3, Force Quit it.
Done.

I would LOVE for someone to explain how to fix this issue permanently.
