Compound clips was created by damodexter
I have an edit where I need to create a compound clip to place in a picture in picture box. I blade the edit in the project and select create new compound clip. In my library a new compound clip is created. However this clips plays in the browser and then just freezes. However it plays fine in the event viewer. But when I try and put it into the timeline it again just freezes. What am I doing wrong that creates this problematic compound clip? Many thanks Damian

Double-click the Compound to open it into its own Timeline, and look at what is inside of it.

That worked fine, but when I then try and add it from the browser it has an odd in point. The Compound clip should be identical to the clip in the timeline right? Straight replacement.

Compound Clips do not grow dynamically if they're in a Project timeline already. That's a safety feature, and I like it. It would have trashed many projects for me if it did change dynamically.

What you're' seeing that dark area which shows what is not being used in the Project that copy is sitting in, obviously. Thus if you add, you need to go back to the Project it is in, and trim the out point.

If you open the Browser copy, you won't have that black shaded area. But, there's an odd thing if you do a replace edit, in my experience, you end up with additional black space added at the end of the Compound that will require trimming.

So either way, you have to trim. Just work with the Timeline copy, trimming is fast and easy, not that big of a deal.
