trouble extending clip to playhead using shortcut Shift + X

Can't seem to get final cut to respond to the shortcut shift + X.
Is this a know bug? or am i just doing something wrong.
I'm selecting clip, moving playhead to the point i want clip to extend to and nothing happens when i hit the shortcut keys.

You don't select the clip, you select the edit point in ripple mode. Also, make sure the skimmer isn't at the edit point.
