FCP template for split screen virtual choir

Split screen for choir was created by Cuboid26
Hi everyone
My stock-in-trade is live music videos but I've had a request from a choir to produce a large-scale split screen video of them all singing; a bit like the Camden Choir video that featured at the end of the BBC news the other week. There are 24 of them. They have supplied the videos and the the audio track . At first sight this looks like a massive job, loading 24 video tracks (plus sep.audio) of a song then going through and setting up varied multi screens as the song progresses, maybe ending with the full 24 split at the end. Anyone suggest an efficient workflow for this? I'm not above buying a template for the job, but the ones I've seen are often transition split screen templates or are not customisable enough.

Hoping that someone gives you an answer here as I am new to FCPX and am trying to do a virtual choir video also. Will have approx 12 to 16 people in the choir. Please post if you find out how to do this what tools or plugins you are using. Thanks

Alex Lindsey and others who have made a living engineering complex live events have commented on this trend for collaborative music performance like this. In a nutshell, it isn't easy, and there is no magical way to make it all sync up and work.
You'll have to manually stack them all. Manually adjust the timing if anyone is off. Someone here I think took that Project once done, and exported the audio to Logic Pro X to retime, fix pitch issues, etc, and sent a master audio file back to FCPX. You'd use that master audio file and mute the audio on all other tracks.
It's work, no magic template to make it all sync up together. A template could give you 24 Drop Zones, but you can't sync Drop Zones. Going to be a manual process in any NLE.

Thanks for this guru (and my earlier reply disappeared somewhere)
“You can’t sync drop zones” was the key useful info here for me. And yes, I have now worked out that its a long , manual slog to produce one of these. So looking forward to the end of lockdown and these videos. They’re all getting pretty tedious now……

I got the latest
TunesKit AceMovi
recently and it has a feature to split the screen in different margin. It provides a dozen of pattern of split screens and you can choose whichever you want and add it to the timeline. Then you can put your videos to the split screen and edit them.

This should help and the Motion templates for FCP are free

I think anybody who sells a template with drop zones for a 'virtual choir' has never made one. Drop zones, simply don't work for building such a production.
