Is Motion like an arrangement tool?

I am trying to get my head round this.

If I purchase templates for a project... and need to music sync them.. Do I need motion i.e.

1. Load template and music into motion
2. Edit template to music
3. Bounce out finished cut to FCPX
4. Re sync with music and repeat?

Or

1. Load things into FCPX
2. Keep it all in FCPX

I am a music producer ( not really but just for speed ) and video editor.

What I do for music and voice is arrange and manually time with ears and eyes on FCPX timeline.

Open music editing software and make a segment

Drag it back into project and bobs your uncle..

Is this what Motion is? Or is it really for MAKING BE SPOKE items and composition?

if you purchase FCPX templates, you only need FCPX. The sort of editing you are talking about would be done in FCPX. Motion is a motion graphics app, not an editing app. It can be made to create templates for FCPX or do stand-alone motion graphics work, which is what I use it for most of the time.

So is an assembler. For maybe making banners and things? Seems a bit pointless with so much out there already made.

It is a motion graphics application, period. Like After Effects. I use it daily for my broadcast work. Watch a few Motion tutorials. But I don't think it is what you need.
