Multi-Cam Switching in Real-Time? was created by Jaacobrs
Good Afternoon!
I'm after some advice, I record my podcast with two camcorders and the audio from all 4 microphones.
I then import everything into FCP and sync into a multi-cam, and watch the podcast back and switch the camera angles using the numbers on the keyboard. This works fine, but I'm looking to reduce my editing time.
I always wanted to switch in real-time, because, for a 1.5-hour podcast, it then takes me an additional 2 hours after recording to do all the switches, so I looked into a broadcast software such as OBS that would allow me to plug my cameras into the computer and switch in real-time, thus saving me the time afterwards, however, I then discovered my camcorders could not be plugged straight into the computer, but instead required a video capture card to convert the HDMI signal to USB which are incredibly expensive for my perposes.
I wondered if there would be a way to do all the switching as the podcast is being recorded, maybe in a blank template session in final cut pro, just switching between two blank angles, and then when i have finished recording, i import the footage into the session and copy & paste the switch points.. i hope im making sense?
Is there a way to do this? Or does anybody know any better ways to help me save time?
Thank you!

hi, !
you can use the Software Multicam Logger from softron .. and" RECORD / log the cutting points live ..
in the software you can assign the Angles to your camera iso recordings export a fcpx xml
then you import the xml and the iso and voila
you have a switched timeline PGM mMaster which you can export
