Keyframing 3D Text inside FCPX 21 Jan 2020 23:08 #104069

Years ago I seem to remember coming across a tutorial on how to make FCPX 3D text work with keyframes.

But some searching I can't find it. :(

Does anyone remember or know where this is?

Thanks,

Chris

Right-Click the Custom template, Open In Motion, publish the X, Y, & Z parameters for Rotation, Save with a new name.

Course if you're going to open it in Motion you'd have a much better time key framing it there that back in FCPX. Just a thought.

I didn't remember it was that simple. Thanks!

So, I got around to trying this out and it works pretty well...

Except, when I go to animate the rotate the word, it's rotating the letters instead of the whole word.

Am I doing something wrong or is there some way to add this as an option?

I figured it out - I needed to publish at the group level.

Hi Chris, English person but written and delay in replying. I believe what you are looking for is here: idustrialrevolution.com/products/xeffect...ustomer#contact_form
XYZ positions and rotation controls can be changed with keyframes. This means that the position of the animated text can be animated automatically, which as a native plugin on Final Cut Pro X does not exist. Thanks, Bye - STEFANO

It's too bad there's no way to publish the ANGLE parameter. So the text always behaves as if you're looking at it through the same basic lens. This really limits creativity.

EDIT: Nevermind I figured it out. Need to publish the camera controls instead of the actual title controls. Same result, but better.

Sadly I seem to not be able to publish the Material option. It's greyed out.
