FCPX keeps crashing when importing video from iPhone 6s since Catalina OS - can anyone help me?

Dear FCP competent people,

Since updating my MacBook Pro to Catalina OS and iPhone I have not been able to download videos from the phone to the FCP library - FCP keeps crashing.
Does anyone know about this problem and is there a fix?
I am desperate for a solution or an explanation.

Could you import it into the Photos app, and then find that library in FCP (in the top left corner between your generators and media library icons in the 10.x -10.4.x versions)

Try importing from there?
Not ideal but that should work.

Did you use any kind of third party camera app? I had some issues using MAVIS in the past.

I had exactly the same problem on my iMac. It was fine until I upgraded to Catalina and tried importing from my iPhone 11 Pro.

I tried AV-Ultra's suggestion to import via Photos which, while not ideal, did work. I then re-tried to import iPhone videos directly into FCP and the problem seems to have resolved itself.

Now I am able to import from iPhone into FCP with no issues.

Or use Image Capture in the App folder. There always seems to be some issue or another when importing to FCP, NLE directly from a lot of camera.

I always import with the image transfer app.
I then choose to import in my different folder my video, photos etc...
That's just my workflow. I never import directly into FCX.
I then import from the folders into FCX.

I always use AirDrop and have no issues.
