Changing Audio Levels

I've been using FCPX since day one and I feel I know the software pretty well, but there's one issue that's been annoying me for years and I would be delighted if someone can help...
When I have a keyframes change in audio level ( ducking music for example) I want to raise the level of the music after the change but not before ( say the music is at 0 then I duck a section to -6 then I bring it back to 0 but want to lift this bit to +3 )..
At the moment I cautiously drag that section up with the mouse but it's very imprecise and hard to get the exact change I want... if it's the full track I use ctrl+ or ctrl- to raise or lower 1db at a time, I know I can use the range tool to add keyframes and drag but is there a way to just move one section a db at a time through the keyboard?
Hope that makes sense.

Yikes, think I've answered my own question after all these years!!! After posting I tried clicking the section and using alt+ and alt- and it just moves the highlighted section!!! sorry for wasting your time...

Plus zooming in and/or making your clips taller also helps.

Personally I like to use the Range Tool. Tap r, drag out range, Range tool automatically creates 4 keyframes which for me is a great feature, and the section will be highlighted and you can immediately use the keyboard to raise or lower volume.
You can also use the audio inspector to precisely set the volume.
Hope this Helps, Greg

You can also use the mouse/trackpad and hold command while dragging a section. You do not need to mark a range to do so. Go with the cursor between 2 keyframes so the cursor symbol changes to the directional arrows, press and hold command and drag up or down. You will notice that, and this is hard to describe with words, the change in dB is much slower for the same distance traveled with your cursor.
Using command or alt has an effect on a lot of controls that you can drag.
