I saw some interesting footage the other day, the camera op had removed the lens and was shooting through the glass which was being held up in front of the camera body, leaked like a colander and had some strange optical tilt-shift things going on. I'm going to give it a go this week

My concern is copyright and creator acknowledgment if you didn't create them yourself. Exactly who made them, and do you have their written permission to distribute them?

They are free, so people that distributed them wanted it to be available for everyone. With my video it will just be available for more people.

Even if they are free, they are still covered by copyright law, and you may or may not have permission to distribute them. You're download has nothing in it to indicate they are legal. Do you actually have written permission from the authors to distribute them as a packaged product as you have? Free does not negate copyrights and distribution rights law.

I've done video tutorial packages and included free stuff from vendors, but I always got permission from those vendors, and stated as such, to include them because I was "re-packaging", which makes permission to re-distribute a legal requirement. I'm speaking from experience of doing such with the advice of a copyright attorney at the time.

For example, the effects posted by ImunityBMX, who is being accused by at least two people of pirating some of them. So, you may in fact have some pirated clips there.

I'd request the site admin to remove the post 100% until the OP can supply documentation showing nothing is pirated and he has permission to distribute them. Piracy is very serious and does in fact take money away from us professional, honest content creators. I take it very seriously. Not to mention if ImunityBMX did pirate, you've put FCP.CO in legal jeopardy by posting it here.

If you do have permission, just post it, and I'll be fine with it. But re-packaging and re-distribution of anything, even if it's free on the author's site, is not always legal.

Plus my ethical problems with it, as we put free stuff on our sites to draw visitors. If you steal it and re-distribute it from your own site, you are stealing our traffic. It's like going to a grocery store on free sample day and eating lunch off the free samples and not actually buying anything. It is plain and simple unethical.

You are right BenB, I just wanted to help some people with those free Film Burns by putting them altogether in one place.
But if it is causes problems to the sites where I downloaded this files, please destroy this topic and you won't hear about me anymore !

Or just email the original vendors and get permission. If you've got links on the YouTube site, and in a PDF included in the Zip stating who made wha, they'd probably go for it.
