Below my time line of imported video clips there is a solid grey bar. This grey bar seems to be connected to all the clips. It elongates itself every time I add a new clip ... It also does not allow me to automatically snap together clips ... I can move one but leaves a space ...

I know its something very obvious ... But can't find the answer! Ive tried to copy all the clips and re past them into a new project to see if it disappears ..... But everything is joined together!

Apologies for what might seem to anyone in the forum as a stupid beginners question..... How do I remove the grey bar? ... Many thanks in anticipation for an answer

You are editing by using the connect clip function, which is connecting them to a gap clip on the primary storyline. Use E to do an append edit to put them in the storyline or W to insert a clip between others in the storyline. A quick look at some basic instruction like Izzy’s videos on YouTube will get you started.
