Magic Wand effects - where should I look? was created by pszilard
Hi People,
I need to add some "magic wand" FX to our short clip with Fairy Godmother changing a dog into a Prince. Need both visuals and sound, although I found a suitable sound effect in iTunes.
Many thanks...

Do you mean like sparkles following the tip of the wand as it is waved? I'd look at CoreMelt's "DriveX" which is a tracker for Motion 5 effects that can be used with particle emitters, which is what you want to use. It can get pretty sophisticated and deep, but for what you want, it'll keep it simple, realistic, and easy.

Thanks. Especially as I already have DriveX - just not used yet.

Yep, not something I use a lot, but when I need it, it is so freakin' awesome. Surprised it doesn't get more mention, it does some amazing things.
Keep in mind, to add realism with DriveX, you can use the movements to alter other parameters. Like, make the sparkles brighter and more plentiful when it moves upwards more, and duller and fewer when the track moves downwards. Stuff like that.
