Mojave vs fcpx rx 580
is there a way to understand it?
thanks to who helps me

I tested codifts mts in h264 and then exported with open cl and metal and the export time is the same, but it should be different, so it means that the acceleration graphics open cl and metal do not work.
tips?
thank you

I don't understand what you say about OpenCL or Metal, because there is nothing to configure about this.

If you still think that you are not getting Metal acceleration simply run the BruceX benchmark in FCPX. I don't know which CPU you have, but with a RX 580 you should get a result between 25 and 40-45 seconds with ProRes 422.

but whatever option you choose the export times are always the same, they don't change so the graphic acceleration doesn't work.
and for this I think that even on fcpx does not work but I am not sure so I should try the BruceX benchmark in FCPX that you advise me, but where do I find it?
thank you for your precious help

So the hardware acceleration is working.

If you want to see differences between Metal and OpenCL you need to run tests where you know and monitor if the GPU is being used. Maybe the test you did is 100% CPU.
The BruceX test can be downloaded here: blog.alex4d.com/2013/10/30/brucex-a-new-fcpx-benchmark/

There are multiple ways and tools to monitor GPU and CPU performance. Having said this, it is important to understand that what, when, why a GPU is utilized has to be coded into the apps. Some developers have been slow in adapting GPU acceleration (ahem-Adobe!) and What OS and app version you are running , GPU will only be used when certain activities are happening (i.e. in FCPX the GPU is mainly used for things like rendering, but not normal playback). Finally, it depends on what hardware you have. Some of the newer laptops also have special hardware accelerator chips that are designed to handle certain routines instead of CPU/GPU. This is why some laptops have equal or better performance in transcoding than a MP or iMP that run xeon chips that do not include these chips.
Lots of ways to monitor.
Activity Monitor in your Utilities Folder includes under the "Window" tab a "GPU History" (command 4) that will give you a pop-up window with real time monitoring. You can move this window and watch performance.
Cinebench and GeekBench go further in actually running tests that record your GPU/CPU performance. There are both free and paid versions, free should be fine for what you want to know.
Nova Bench is another app that runs routines to record performance.
iStatsMenu is another
Personally, I do not think that the BruceX test is very good at GPU testing and monitoring. It is better at just relative comparisons of different computer configurations but Is not really designed to single out GPU vs CPU performance.
There are a lot of great websites that do excellent job of running tests on lots of configurations. One site I like is BareFeats and here is just one of many article testing GPU usage… barefeats.com/do-gpus-always-speed-up-pro-apps.html
Apple is constantly rewriting code for improving and supporting GPUs and external GPU enclosures, so make sure to keep apps/OS updated.
Hope this Helps, Greg

I just want to point that I don't consider BruceX a "real" test for FCPX as it does not show real world differences between Macs when working on real projects.
My advise on using this test was only to prove click that hardware acceleration was working: you cannot go below 1 minute with no acceleration even with "good" Intel GPU and latest Intel cpus.
But as I said, if there is no GPU acceleration, I am not even sure if the Mac or, FCPX at least, would have launched at all.
There is also XRG to monitor everything about hardware and it's free: gauchosoft.com/Products/XRG/
The UI is not the best, but you can see how much GPU memory is being used, temperatures, GPU and CPU usage...
