How to save a Title to be used later without Motion? was created by bradywurtz
I work at an access center and we have people using FCPX now instead of Premiere CS6. One thing people did all the time was they'd create a title once in their timeline, and then they'd decide that they want to use that title every week on their weekly shows (mostly church services). In Premiere I use to be able to save that Title to use later.
I know in FCPX I can create one in Motion and save it to be used in FCPX whenever you want. But say I used a template inside FCPX and dropped it into a project, then edited and customized it, and wanted to save it to be used again later. Is that possible? Or am I really going to have to have them open up Motion and create it a second time and then save it back into FCPX to be used over and over again?

It depends on the complexity on the title. Making it in Motion has the advantage that it's in the application, can be moved from machine to machine, and quickly modified in every project. You can also simply copy/paste between projects. You can also use compound clips to save templates, but be careful using them so you don't modify earlier projects. It really depends on the title that's being built, which is the best way to handle it.

Whatever that title is, go to it in the Title Template Browser. Right-click, Open In Motion. So a Save-As, give it a unique name, and create a Category that is recognizable and logical to save it in. Modify as desired, Save, quit. You now have it ready to go in its own category, easy to find. WE do this all the time at the station.
