Motion Templates appear gray in timeline

Motion Templates appear gray in timeline was created by M00nSammy
I received a hard drive with source footage, an XML, and 2 Motion template folders called "Look Grade" and "Base Grade". I can get the templates into the Titles but they appear as gray boxes in the timeline. Clearly they are the color grading for the footage but I'm not sure how to make FCP see them or how to "activate" them. Any suggestions as to what's going on? Do I need more from my colleague?
Many thanks,

Maybe those templates are effects and not titles. In that case they would be dropped onto the footage and not stacked above. You can open the Motion folder in the finder to verify if the template is .moti (title) or .moef (effect). In FCPX you can also select it and view the inspector pane to see if there are any parameters for the template. Another possibility if the above info doesn’t resolve anything is that the template was created on an incompatible version of Motion from that of the version on your system.

They are for sure installed at the wrong place.
Open the XML in a text editor, search for the plugins and you'll see the path where they should be.
