notepad window?

Its impossible to write script for my video when I have to keep switching to Note application when I cannot then see my timeline etc which is now in the background. Seems stupid they have not thought of this. Is there a way I can have a dedicated workspace/window thats integral to fcpx so its. I could go maybe where affects is (bottom right) etc so that its always there for reference. It would be so much easier. Instead I have to take to using real paper and quill and ink.

I often Uses the Stickies app, there is a "float on top" option under the window menu.

But if you need a more complex note taking tool, the split window workflow is great.

There used to be an amazing plugin for OS X called "afloat", but I don't think it's updated anymore...

A temporary second or third monitor , even an iPad using DUET and an app that is both iOS - OsX could be a good ressource.

I actually use a pen and paper. Very fast, if my computer crashes I still have it. Yep, for real, I use pen and paper a lot.

Create in FinalCut a Workspace for that task and adjust the window size of both, the note-taking app and of FC - done.
That is a the 0$, extras-free, look-Ma-no-hands solution… there are and would be better ones.

I use that and my old iPhone for big TC display on top of the screen.

Anyway you can "abuse" my SRT4Translate to have something like a floating text editor.
Open the app, hide the Main window (cmd-0) and show the "Translation" window (cmd-1).
Now you can use that window as a floating text editor and save your notes.

Another "abuse": for shorter notes create SRT captions and export when done
