i'm sorry if this question already exists somewhere here; i don't know how to search for it. you know how in imovie, when you're dragging the beginning or end of something in the timeline to match up with the beginning or end of something else (like audio and video or a text overlay on a picture), that little yellow line shows up to let you know that right where it's cut lines up exactly with the content above or below it? is there something like that in final cut? i've searched for it and i'm really tired so i might just be overlooking it, but i can't find a setting to change it so that that happens. as of now i can't get an image to fit the length of an audio track, because even when i zoom in to better see where the cutoff is, the dragging of the image length is choppy and can't end where i want it to free netflix tech news

Not sure what you're doing, but yes, it works just like in iMovie. It's called Snapping, and you turn it off and on with either the keyboard shortcut of N, or with the icon in the Timeline's tool bar.

If dragging the video/image clip is choppy, you may actually have snapping turned on and are attempting to align the video with detached audio or an added music clip. Video will be adjustable in a minimum of one frame increments, while audio can be moved at the sample level (with 80 sub samples per video frame). In that case you may not be able to align them where you want if your audio does not fall exactly at the beginning or end of a video frame. You will be able to move the audio in very fine increments to match the start of the video frame, but not the other way around.
