MXF export issues

in the meantime i hav efound a way to alte least identify a broken file without having to loo at the whole movie .
VLC player ! once it gets across an error it will show a broken frame till the end (similar to what is posted ). quicktime player does not!

Hi Peter, i am always working with 25i. I am also using VLC to preview the file. As you said, using VLC it's easy to find the breaking point. But in this specific case it doesn't matter, as it's not a problematic frame that causes the issue. It's very random. One time it happened in the last 30 secs of a 45 min MXF and i finally managed to get a healthy file after 2 days. What a nightmare... This issue, along with annoying bluetooth connectivity issues after sleep (keyboard & mouse) that came with Mojave destroys the whole purpose of using a Mac for me.

i just found that AppleMXFExportFCP.bundle in Library/Application Support/ final cut System support/ plugins / --is from 11.10.2016 ! 3 yeras old! V2.0. what do you have there ?
can anyone not having issues with MXF export in 25i please Look what you have ? Thanks !


and Pro Formats 2.07 is installed . 2.1 needs Mojave, but as i read that does not really solved the Problem

Although I don’t see the problem when opened in pc it’s there

I deliver in mov but it’s a big problem

Hi Algowin. Given the fact that this issue usually appears in export longer than 40 minutes, a 3 hour export seems almost impossible to me. One way to get around this is to ask your client if it's possible to deliver this in 4 parts. In this case you will split your edit in 4 different projects and export them separately.

If this has be a single file, then you can export a ProRes Master file and then covert it to MXF. I suppose Compressor will have the same issue as it has the exact same engine with FCPX, so you can use Premiere or any other NLE to convert this.

For archiving etg

Also I don’t have premer and I have all with license

I also don’t see the export problem till they put in in a tv stations pc with windows

Did you try VLC player to find the error ? when you skim trough the program VLC player freezes teh corrupted frame until the end once you go over it- like the picture posted in first post.

My advice: dont Archive in MXF XDCAM 422 , ist only 8 Bit, 50 mbit and not very future proof, Mpeg 2 is very old . maybe dropped soon who knows . I only use it for delivery if a TV Stadion wants it. i always keep my Prores
To Archiv in good Quality use Prores . to watch and Review, H264 ia also Better than MXF XDCAM.

Has anyone tried Davinchi yet ? the new version has MXF Op 1a , and the audio can be mapped. ( and ist free)
