10.4.4 import BUG with XDCAM EX Material from PMW-300 was created by gloidl
Since the update to 10.4.4 I can no longer import Sony XDCAM EX material from the camera card.
Never had a problem before.
If I insert the camera card from our Sony PMW 300 shot in 1080i in the XDCAM EX format the card shows up in FCPX but it shows no clips. They do show up for less than a second and are gone immediately afterwards.
Material from our old Sony EX1 and FS7 can be imported without any problem.
The workaround for us now is to copy the material via Sony Catalyst Browse to a different folder from which we then can import the clips without a problem. Even if we copy the files to another SD card we have no problem importing them from there!
It looks like FCPX10.4.4 introduced an import bug for some Sony cameras! The workaround with an extra copy step considerably slows down our workflow...

FWIW Apple's document that shows the list of FCPX supported cameras does not include the PMW-300. It does, however show the PMW-320.
Here's the list: support.apple.com/en-us/HT204203#sony

It worked without a problem in 10.4.3.
The problem is getting stranger now:
After I restarted the iMac and tested the card once again it suddenly worked. If I eject the card, record another clip to the card and try to import the new clip it wont show up until I restart the Mac again. Just closing FCP is not enough.
We have another Mac which is still at 10.4.3 and it does not show this problem.
It looks like FCP is maybe caching the info of the card until the computer is shut down? If something goes wrong at the first attempt to import the clips from the card, the clips will only show up if you retry after you restarted the Mac.
Will have to try if it shows this same behaviour with my EX1 or FS7 if I add other clips to the card after I imported from it without shutting down the computer. Maybe it is not limited to the PMW-300...
