Balance Color / White Balance, doing auto contrast?

So i've just gotten around to messing with the 'Balance Color' feature, and how it has a 'White Balance' eye dropper to help white balance properly. But, is it just me, or does it also try to auto contrast your clip too? I thought it was just going to worry about white balance, but then it looks like the contrast is being adjusted too. Am i right or wrong here?

Balancing while can, and often does effect contrast.
