I copied a library from one drive to another and am struggling to relink some clips after I open the library. I just noticed that the clips that are listed as missing are there but there are multiple clips with the same number (Clip #39 as an example belongs to three separate clips!). I obviously need to do a better job numbering my clips (I use a Canon C100), but I've never run into this problem before. Maybe FCP has a way to deal with the duplicate numbers when you're originally importing, but loses the plot when you copy the libraries and then need to relink the files. FCP won't let me relink the files even when I navigate to the right folder where the original clip resides.

Should I reimport those clips from their folders? I don't like the idea of renaming the original clips. And I can't reimport the footage as I don't have those files on my card.

thx!

Here's my trick for relinking clips.
Don't import or try to relink via the command to do so. Highlight all the clips and drag them at the end of your timeline. The missing file icons repopulate with the images you dragged onto the end of the timeline and FCP did all the heavy lifting of sorting though the mess all on its own figuring which file gets referenced where. UNDO the last step and your timeline now knows where the files can be found.
