Hey!
Just got myself a spanking new MacBook Pro (2.6ghz, 32gb ram, 512gb hd)...
The idea is that I will have it for work on the go... and I would like to be able to work on something on my regular editing machine (and hackintosh in a big tower) and then just bring the hard drive with the project and continue working on the MacBook Pro when on the road.
FCPX obviously is easy as it just downloads from App Store, and the other Apple stuff syncs via iCloud. But all the thrird party plug-ins etc are a bit trickier. Other than just manually making sure they are both on the same versions, is there any good tricks and tips for making this as easy as possible? Anyone doing the same?
PS - have have started doing some comparisons between the MacBook Pro and my Coffee Lake Hackintosh, will post results eventually! Let me know if there's a specific test you like to see and I'll see what I can do.

Copy the Motion Templates folder from one to the other.
Some require the installer.
There's no really easy way to compare both. Maybe someone has a utility to do that? But yeah, that's a tricky subject with any NLE.
When I get a new laptop I use Migration Assistant to match both machines. I've never had any issues. May have to reinstall some plugin or app licenses, but that's pretty easy to do as you go along your work day.

Thanks. Yes, that's pretty much what I've done. copied the motion folder, and fonts etc.
I prefer not using migration assistant and start as fresh as possible. Which of course is more work.
I got it just a few days before Mojave was released to decided to do a clean install of that, having to start over again. But thought that was the best option going forward.
