Backup library not reliable / recent enough

Backup library not reliable / recent enough was created by Suzero
I needed to roll back to a backup library file as a client had opened the actual library on her FCPX system and missing titles/fonts were replaced with substitutes . It was going to take too long to replace all the titles again, so I thought I'd roll back to the backup I had in the Movies folder on my system.
The time/date stamp was what I needed, 14:40. That's when we stopped editing. On opening that backup however, projects and events were missing that I definitely mad before 14:00 even. Does anybody know what can cause this? it makes me not trust the backups.
We ended up having to replace all the titles anyway.
Lesson for me is to always make a copy of the final library so clients don't go messing things up.

I've had to use backups on occasions . Not had any problems. I also keep a copy of the library on a seperate drive but I guess that can still have missing titles, fonts, plugins etc.

Never let a client mess with the original Library. Make a new Library for the client, copy the Project timeline to a "Client" Event in it. Then if you need to make changes, XML back and forth. I'd never let a client touch an original.
