Hey there guys,
I hope that this message finds you all in excellent spirits, and you are having a great week.

We are exporting a movie file from Compressor. However, we are not sure what Colour Space setting to use: Rec. 601 (PAL), Rec. 601 (NTSC) or Rec. 709.

FYI: we shot our movie on a Canon 7D camera at 1920 x 1080. It is now going to be put onto an all-regions DVD which needs to be playable worldwide.

As the movie is in HD, we are assuming that Rec. 709 is the correct setting, but this is just an assumption. However, we are now at the stage where we are going to give the DVD master copy to the replication plant, so we want to make certain that we are doing the correct thing.

Any thoughts, ideas and guidance are gratefully received.

Thank you so much for reading this post!

Export from 709. The encoding process fir DVD will make it 601.

Firstly, thank you so much for your kind and prompt response, which is enormously appreciated!

Do you happen to know the correct Video Standard setting - NTSC or PAL - to select within DVD Studio Pro's Preferences? In our trial runs, we have selected NTSC because we want to try and ensure our DVD plays in all regions, especially Region 1: the US, US territories and Canada.

All DVD players in PAL countries can also play back NTSC DVDs, in case you worried.

That's great to know! We had read that NTSC was better for compatibility reasons, but we weren't actually aware that DVD players in all PAL countries could play NTSC DVDs.

Many thanks for this valuable information!
