Dual Mono = no sound was created by DmitriZigany
Hey!
So, I have a stereo audio track that only has sound in the left channel... if I switch it to dual mono, I can't hear the music! I had this issue on my MOTU 828mk3 audio interface, and then thought it was because it's main outs weren't actually output 1-2... But now I'm having the same issue on an Apollo Twin mkII.
Funny thing is, if I switch from stereo to dual mono while it's playing, I can hear the music (sounding as you'd expect in both L & R speaker). As soon as I stop and hit play again - no sound!
This is driving me nuts! Anyone have any suggestions or experienced this?
FCPX really needs some built in control of audio outputs!
Thanks

Hi!
It's quite a well known problem, I've encountered it on my MacPro and also on a fellow filmmaker's iMac, both passing audio to a blackmagic card.
Here you can find the solution, it is quite easy to fix, bear in mind that you need to lower the volume of your speakers because sometimes it makes a very (very) loud noise.

Hope this helps,
Hector

That tip should work, however it seems that you need to do it again with every OS (and possibly FCPX) updates.

No, actually. I’ve done it more than a year ago, upgraded OS and FCPX several times and never had and problems.

Maybe machine specific then. The last 2 updates of OS required me to go back into midi setup and redo it. Wouldn't stick for me.

Maybe it's just bad luck then. I did it on a MacPro and an iMac 5K and never had to do it again.
