"Roll" footage without connected clips following? was created by DmitriZigany
Hey!
I remember seeing this nfo before, but not sure about the correct terminology so can't find it.
Is there a way to "roll" footage on the timeline without its connected clips following along?
thanks!

A roll edit moves an edit point, effecting the two adjacent shots, lengthening one, shortening the other. It doesn’t alter anything else or the duration of the project. Do want to ripple a shot, shorten one without shortening the project?

Yes, you seem to be confusing terms. A roll is what Tom describes, and then a connected clip doesn't move. Because the very primary storyline frame it is connected to doesn't move.
The connected clip moves along with it's "parent" frame in a slip or slide. You can prevent that by holding down the key "override clip connections" while performing the edit. Look it up in commands (alt cmd K). I can't tell you the english key, because I am on a german keyboard, and there only a custom key will work.

And yes, I meant slide/slip... I always get all of those terms mixed up...
