Moving Files into a rendered project

I usually import all my files and physically move them into the library, so that I can remove all SD cards and get on with the edit.

I recently (by mistake) opted to keep some audio files where they were. The upshot is that I now have a finished project that I can only use in entirety when the SD card with the audio files on it is plugged into my computer.

Is there a way to import these files from the card - physically move them - and then have final cut put them into the correct place in the timeline?

To clarify, I worked with files that I mistakenly chose to "Leave in place" - but I want to "Copy them to library" after they have been cut and used within a project.

Is there any way to do this?

Thank you !

Phil

Never had to do this. With one file for testing (nothing changed though), this methods works: hit cmd+i and import the files in question, but this time with copying them to the library >missing file warning disappears.

If for some reason it doesn't work (but why wouldn't it?, - funny that one is so conscious now when saying wouldn't), you could >file >relink file and then show the path. Now, can you relink to something in the same database? Or is it risky to do that? Don't know, never had to do this. I can't see why it would be.

In FCPX, select the Library in the Browser. Go to the Inspector, verify the Settings for storage indicate media should be inside the Library. Then click the "Consolidate" button for media. That will copy everyone external into the Library. You'll be good to do then.
