Audio Meters Not Responsive

I'm been having this issue from time to time and trying to figure out whats causing it. After a little time of cutting I notice the audio meters ballistics are not very responsive. It's almost like they are barely bouncing at all. I'm not using any audio plugins and there are not that many tracks. Anyone have this experience or know of a remedy?

Need more info. Screen shot of the timeline with full audio waveforms? Did you perhaps accidentally pull audio level down?
