SoundSoap 5 in FCPX 10.4.2 was created by finalbug.net
Hi, hi
I have just purchased SoundSoup5, the stand alone edition. And love it. :woohoo:
Have it working as a stand alone.
www.antarestech.com/product/soundsoap-5/
According to the site/promotion mail:
"SoundSoap 5 is compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit hosts like Logic X, Final Cut Pro X, and ProTools 12. SoundSoap has an amazing user interface, including an improved high-resolution Wash Window."
Has anyone purchased this and got it to work in the current version of FCPX?
If so any tips for activating it SoundSoap in FCPX 10.4.2?
I am looking for Soundness/Soundsoap in the Audio Filter Browser in FCPX but no joy.
My guess is that this used to work but broke at some point and nobody at Antarestech really has this on their radar!?
Sadly Sound Soaps support keeps dropping the ball with respect to this...
thanks for any tips/clues in advance
Paul

Hi
This is a huge help.
The gentleman at support does not seem to understand how plugins in FCPX work.
The support guy keeps telling me to look in the inspector in the effects section.
I keep telling him that I do not see it turn up in the Effects Browser = can not apply it.
We have being going around in circles for a week now!!!
Other people also seem to be confused:
soundsoap.uservoice.com/forums/278659-tr...-for-final-cut-pro-x
It is such a shame about the "noise" in the communication with the gentleman at support as Sound Soap is an amazing piece of software.
thanks
Paul

Hi, hi
Ok, I figured it out.
Technically my mistake.
Not helped by dodgy documentation.
And counter productive support.
I had entered the serial in a demo version.
(In the purchase mail there was a serial number.)
 My mistake = I assumed that this would just activate all the functionality.
What I should have done was:
Gone to the trouble to download the version linked in the purchase mail.
(In retrospect as far as I can tell the serial number is just for my records.*
* See no where I can enter it and the software installed via download link!!!)
Having done so and restarting all is well and I can use this amazing piece of software in FCPX.
Also note it turns up in a section called Antares and not in Soundneess or SoundSoap!
Last note if I am not mistaken the demo version was 5.0 and the version that I downloaded 5.1!
It was unnecessarily painful but worth it. This plugin continues to blow my mind. :woohoo:
thanks
Paul

Yes Sound Soap is great ... Been using it for years. Used to be made by Bias.
Anyway, the V5. Version will work in FCP X. running under Sierra. Once ypu update to. High Sierra the plug in will show up in FCP X and work fine in real time during playback but FCPX will not be able to export a final movie while it is applied. Gets stuck on 'preparing media'.
The developer Antares know about this, have acknowledge it in writing, but blame Apple for a 'security ' problem in High Sierra. As of last week they still have no plans to fix it.
Apple also know about the issue. No comment from them.
Buy Isotope RX 6 elements it works in FCP X .. though can be a bit crash prone.
Good luck!

Hi
Yes I have it working but it crashes every time I try to export.
Thus I use it as an external App.
I suspect that this is part of a bigger problem.
eg: www.klangfreund.com/lufsmeter/
The developer has a work around but Iike when did 10.4 come out 6-9 months ago?
Maybe these issues are not related maybe they are.
best

Important notice for Final Cut Pro X users
Starting with Final Cut Pro X 10.4, exporting a master file won't work if a LUFS Meter is loaded.

This is what I got from Antares about the inability of FCP X to export a project with SS applied.
"Thank you for contacting Antares! You are correct this is a security issue in regards to High Sierra. Unfortunately their is nothing we can do on our end. Apple must open up a way for third-party developers to apply for security rights. For the time being, I would recommend bouncing your audio and processing it in the standalone version of SoundSoap when importing back into FCPX."
(1/23/18)
Then
"Thank you for contacting Antares! Currently the support team has not received any timeline for a future update to SoundSoap 5+. "
(6/15/18)
As I said at least RX6 Elements Voice de-noise works ... not as good as SS IMO ... but thats a moot point currently!

FWIW: I have had this problem a few times with RX6 elements and contacted Izotope support. They also acknowledge there is an issue with the plugins running directly in FCPX and recommended to use the standalone audio editor. Odd that checking the audio units within FCPX doesn't reveal any issues but the crashes do identify the plugin in Digital Rebellion's Pro Maintenance Tools. The standalone editor, as recommended does seem to work fine.

@ ltf3ltf3
Thanks for sharing your exchange with SoundSoap.
It confirms what I have experienced.
@ dgwvideo
Yes and I had an email exchange with he developer from Klangfreund pre High Sierra days.
Where he complained that getting his plugin to work with FCPX was really hard.
Apparently it was much easier to get it to work with Pro Tools or what ever else it works in.
Seems to be a pity as there are so many incredible audio plugins out there….
